Top 5 Car Recalls as of December 26th

Ford AWD

Reason for Recall: Driveshaft Separation Due to Loose, Missing, or fractured bolts.

The Ford AWD is one of the Latest Car recalls in 2021, and the identified safety concern is not exactly new. Customers of the 2020 model have placed several warranty calls on bolts issues at the driveshaft transition. This concern was first reported for the 2019 model, which forced the company to call back 300,000 units.

As of December 24th this year, the company has called 4548 units of the more recent model based on fillings on the fillings with NHTSA. The car company first noticed the issue following increased complaints from customers about loose and missing bolts that connect the driveshaft to the Transfer Case Constant Velocity Joint.

The company concern Review Group agreed that his complaints were the same as those filed in 2019 and 2020. The recent complaints were filled in on June 9th, 2021. From August to December 24th, Ford has received 50 reports on warranty issues on the 2020 model, and 22 of them were on driveshaft separation. The company has called over 4540 units on its own, and it is possible that there may be more recalls before the ned of the year.

The good thing is that there have not been any accidents from the issue. Neapco Holdings, a Michigan-Based automobile company, is responsible for the assembly of the driveshaft, and according to Ford, the company will be responsible for the cost of all repairs.

Ford 2021 Mustang

Reason for Recall: Faulty/incorrectly manufactured Airbags

Ford was not only among the top brands with the Most car recalls by manufacturers, but they are also among the brands with the Latest Car recalls in 2021. The 2021 Mustang Model is a worthy prize for most owners. However, some of the units manufactured this year have had an issue with airbag installations.

The Airbag Supplier, Joyson Safety Systems, produced some poorly inflated airbags in the lab test. The company did not reject the defects and sent them to ford. JSS later informed the Blue Oval company that some of the Mustang 2021 Model airbags were defectives. Ford went on to identify the Verification Identification Number that was suspected of having defects. As of December 23rd, the company has recalled 93 cars.

The recalled cars will have replaced inflators for their airbags, and JSS will bear the costs. Customers are expected to receive a callback notification between February 1st and February 4th.

Hyundai Ioniq EV

Reason for Recall: Unintended Acceleration Issue

The Hyundai Ioniq EV is among the Latest Car recalls in 2021. The good thing, though, is that the models with defects are in the USA, making it very easy to track. The issue with some units of the 2021 model is the possibility of an Unintended acceleration occurring despite the Fail-safe mode being activated.

The model is a zero-emission electricity car and comes with the smart safe-fail mode. For the ideal unit, the safe-fail mode activates when there is a concern, and the car speed starts to decelerate, including the total power output. However, some defectives, which Hyundai and NHTSA confirmed to be just 1% of the total output of the 2021 model, may accelerate themselves when drivers release the accelerator pedal.

The NHTSA states that this unplanned acceleration increases the chances of a crash, and a recall was necessary for the defectives.

Hyundai has recalled 2679 units since December 20th of this year, and customers are expected to get a call back on February 4th, 2022.

The affected models include the 2016 C 300, E 300, 2019 C 300, G 550, AMG G 63, 2019-2020 A 220, AMG GT 53, GLA 250, AMG GT 63, GLC 300, 2020 CLA 250, E 450, E 350, GLB 250, GLS 450, GLE 450, GLS 580, SL 550, S 560, AMG A 35, AMG C 63 and AMG C 43.

The company stated that the engine compartment could leak fuel when debris gets trapped between the fuel rail and injector and damages the seal. The call back is expected to be complete by next year march.

Audi Cars

Reason for Recall: Gateway Control Module failure due to Liquid Ingress Issue

Since August 2020, Audi has been receiving complaints about failures with their gateway control module, and as of December 20th, they have recalled 200,000 Audi cars. The issue was caused by a liquid spill on the cars’ rear seats. The oil forces the module switching to go off to avoid any reaction that could cause any form of damage to the vehicle.

The most affected units are the Audi Q5, Audi SQ5, and most of the Sportback coupe variations.

Owners are expected to get their cars back by February 11th Next year.
